Information for IRLP NODE 3456

The Internet Radio Linking Project (IRLP) is a worldwide network of connected radio's that uses the Internet to carry your transmission (VOIP) to its destination. Each Node has its own unique 4 digit Identifier code. The IRLP node connected to the 145.290 repeater here in Port Aransas is NODE 3456.

In order to make a connection to another node you will need to know its 4 digit number. You can find a list of nodes in the USA or any country around the world by going HERE. You will need a radio that is capable of sending DTMF tones in order to control the IRLP Node.

Here is how to use the IRLP System.

1. Your radio must be set to use the KG5BZ Repeater on 145.290 with a tone of 110.9

2. LISTEN to the repeater output frequency for at least a few minutes to make sure no one is using it, once you are sure then key your mic and give your callsign and the words "Accessing Node" or something similar to let other users know what you intend to do.

3. Key your mic again and slowly key in the 4 digit node number using your DTMF Keypad then unkey. You should hear the node connect to the remote node you have chosen and you will hear the welcome greeting. If you receive an error message then try another node number as the one you tried may not be working correctly.

4. Once connected LISTEN for a short time to make sure there isnt a conversation in progress on the remote node you connected to.

5. Key your mic and PAUSE for about 1 second before you begin talking, this is very important and you should pause at the start of every over so that the delays do not cut off the first part of your transmision at the remote side.

6. To end your connection with the remote node key your mic and enter 73. You should hear the goodbye message from the remote node.

7. Thats all there is to it !! if you want to call another node then go ahead, if not then give your call sign and announce that you are 'clear' or something similar to let other users know that the repeater is free for use again.
